Have you suffered a sunburn during the winter? How?

Before Christmas I got burned from standing on a bridge next to a frozen pond. The sun reflected off the ice and burned my face. I had applied sunscreen but obviously it didn't work that well.

  1. I am just wondering do you beat yourself up whenever you get sunburn or miss a spot with sunscreen? I do ALL THE TIME!

    1. I do. I am hard on myself. I have been writing about skin cancer for six years and I went to our state capitol on advocacy efforts and yet, I still find a way to burn myself. I almost don't want to show my face to others who know about my past melanoma diagnosis. But it also gives me pause to be more empathetic to those who burn accidentally or otherwise. 1. It sounds like it easily happens, but it has not happened to me—-yet!

        1. I've gotten a face burn while ice fishing for sure. Depending on cold and wind, redness could be due to that as well.

          1. That's true. For me, windburn and sunburn feel and look the same initially. It is hard to know the difference. Scott skincancer.net moderator
