I’ve read recently some Warriors stating cancer defines them. I refuse to let Stage 3 Malignant Melanoma define me. I’ll admit in the beginning, I did. But through the years, 17 of them since my diagnosis in 2000, I’ve realized that if I let my diagnosis define me, I’m not doing anyone any good. Life is meant to be lived! Find something that makes your heart sing. Fill your time with this passion in between appointments, scans, treatments, and tests. For me it’s wind therapy. I love being on the back of my hubby’s Harley. And I’m learning to ride my own at the age of 47. So please, don’t let cancer define you! If you’re looking for a great support group, please check out Melanoma Warriors & Cancer Club Friends.

    • Danielle, this is such a beautiful statement. What an important reminder, for those diagnosed with serious illness and for all others as well! Please continue to spread this message. Not everyone may be ready to hear it, but I am sure that such encouragement soaks into one’s soul eventually. I remember the story you shared, “Only God Knows…” We look forward to featuring it again in future newsletters, but I would also urge you to share another. Keep on riding, you are an inspiration!
