Info on Efudex ?

Went to doctor with a small pink blemish on my cheek that was a little flaky. He prescribed Efudix cream and said I was to go back and see him after 6 weeks. Phoned to make an appointment after about 10 weeks but couldn't get an appointment until approx 5 months after my initial visit.
During this time I continued to use the Efudix cream which made my small pink blemish much worse and much bigger.
After reading the comments on this page I realise I should have stopped applying the cream after 4 to 6 weeks. I think I've prolonged the whole process as I wasn't given enough into and should have explored this earlier. My mistake I suppose but Doctor should have given more info initially. ?? Going to doctor in 2 weeks time but I have now stopped the cream.
