BCC and numbness

I had a biopsy on my nose last September and the following week had an urgent referral to my local hospital to have a BCC removed.

I was told by my dermatologist to let the hospital know immediately if there were any changes, so in February I duly contacted the hospital to let them know that the BCC side of my nose had gone numb.

I'm still waiting for a surgery date, 34 weeks since the biopsy. I've contacted the Surgical Appointments office and the secretary of the surgeon I was referred to but they won't commit to a surgery date. Short of camping out in the Facial Surgery Unit, any suggestions on how to get this expedited before my nose drops off? 😬

  1. Well, if it were me, I would look for another doctor to assist you. I don't think I would be patient enough to wait 34 weeks. Also, it would concern me that the hospital might not be able to give me the best care once an actual appointment was made and kept. Just my two cents. Scott skincancer.net moderator

    1. I have to second Scott's suggestion. I wouldn't hesitate to contact a new dermatologist even if it means beginning as a new patient and starting the process over again. In my opinion, you have waited long enough and been more than patient with the entire ordeal.
