How can I tell when to stop putting fluorouracil cream on?

I am a redhead with very sensitive skin. Before trying the chemo cream on my face, I decided to try it on a less obvious spot, my forearm. I have used it for 12 days and I have about ten red spots of various sizes on my arm, They are itchy and some are starting to feel crusty but no peeling yet. How can I tell when I don't need to put any more on? I see photos of people's faces and arms doing this treatment but my arm doesn't look red all over like their treatments do. There are just isolated red spots. Does this mean it's not done working yet? Thanks for any advice.

  1. Hi . It's been a few weeks since you posted this, so I wanted to check in and see whether you got the answers you needed and how your treatment is going. In case you still need more information, I wanted to share this video with you aabout fluorouracil treatment and what to expect: https://skincancer.net/stories/fluorouracil-skin-treatment. I hope it helps and that your treatment is progressing well. Warmest of wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thanks for the video Lori. He looked awful and I had seen other images like that before I tested on my forearm. I’m glad I didn’t do it on my face. My arm has improved but no way does it look normal. It’s blotchy red and bruised looking in spots and very fragile. On my pale skin the redness might be permanent. I would do it on a small spot on my face but not all over. And the fact that many people had to do this many times is discouraging. What do you think of the radiation techniques?

      1. here is some additional information on radiation treatment https://skincancer.net/life-with-skin-cancer/radiation-myths-cause-fear. We know choosing which treatment is the best fit for you can be difficult, we’re always here to help answer any questions you may have. All my best, Julie (team member)
