How is everyone today?

Sometimes it's just nice to get asked.

  1. I be am doing well, but my scan is coming go up and I am already thinking about it too much.

    1. I am glad that you are doing well. Are there any particular things that you are concerned about? Scott skincancer.net moderator

  2. I always get nervous before a scan. You can't always tell what's going on inside your body. I start second guessing every little ache and pain. I get nerve pain in my leg because the tumor was right next to a nerve and I have scar tissue where they took out lymph nodes. I get pain in my groin sometimes and I start getting worked up thinking is this just from yoga/exercising or is it the melanoma spreading. I am always looking for signs it's spread like a cough that won't go away, headaches and any lumps that appear suddenly. It's hard not knowing if or when it will return. Most of the time I can put it out of my mind, but whenever my scan comes up my mind starts going. I have started meditating, which has helped a lot. My biggest issue is when I go to sleep my mind just takes off on it's own and sometimes it's hard to reign it back in. Wow! Sorry this ended up being so long.

    1. Thinking of you! I hope you hear back quickly and don’t have to spend too long in the awful uncertainty.

    2. yeah, seems appropriate to what I experience. Scott skincancer.net moderator

  3. I read this today so I will answer now. Thursday I have a new dermatologist and the first skin check (3 months) since surgery. The new dermatologist looks like he might be 15 years old. I am trying hard not to pre-judge him and keep an open mind. He is a very accomplished dermatologist and that is what is most important. His age is not. And my surgeon says he’s tops in bedside manner so that’s very good too. I’m gonna be positive.

    1. ...oh, I love this for you! I am so happy to hear it went well. Now, you can relax and know you have a great medical professional on your side! April, SkinCancer.net, Moderator

    2. Yes! Thank you.

  4. Well, I support you in your skin check and hope for a great report. I agree that competence is what matters most here. I think being positive is the best way. Thanks for letting me know about this. Scott skincancer.net moderator
