Anyone else grow weary of thinking about sun protection?

Sometimes I get fatigued just thinking about ways to protect myself from the sun during the coming summer months. Anyone else deal with this? How do you cope?

  1. I don't have any solutions for coping. It can be overwhelming. Shopping for new SPF products spices things up, but it does get old. I totally understand the fatigue. April, SkinCancer.net, Moderator

    1. I think trying to find solutions distracts me a little but I end up in the same place, tired. Scott skincancer.net moderator

    2. I get it...very tired some days. April, SkinCancer.net, Moderator

  2. I'm a real newby to all this and pleased to find your friendly, helpful site. I was out looking for a suitable sun hat yesterday, no luck yet!! As I'm from UK, not a hot place to say the least, so I don't want to look over dressed 🤔🌞. Bring back my mum's era when one wouldn't have left home without a hat. Thank you all.

    1. Ha! I would love to have a hair and makeup artist every day, too!!
I used to do outside TV shoots in Florida (in the early nineties) and no-one ever suggested SPF. It was a different world “back then.”
My problem was that my skin was sensitive to so many ingredients, that I didn’t use sunscreen except to prevent burning! Aaargh!

    2. It sure was a different world back then. Back in the 80's, I would get tan to impress my young lady friends, when all along they would have been more impressed with me if I was less obsessed with my appearance and more with my character. lol Scott skincancer.net moderator

  3. perhaps I’m doing something wrong, but I spend my whole weekend washing clothes. My sunscreen leaves white marks on the fabric of my clothes. It’s rather annoying. So many issues with sunscreen!

    1. Yes, it does.

    2. Ok thanks. Scott skincancer.net moderator

  4. Yes I get very tired from protecting myself from the UK sun. My skin cancers have been from using tanning beds in my youth though. I have a wardrobe full of weird hats! It’s funny how my heart soars when it’s overcast because I don’t need to cover the sides of my face up!

    1. A little late to the game but be sure to protect yourself on overcast days as well. Clouds don't block very much UV and if you aren't feeling the heat effect of the sun you tend to stay outside longer. You can definitely get a burn on overcast days.

    2. This is very true. I think some of my worst burns were on overcast days growing up. We often had cloudy days on Southern California beaches in the morning that eventually gave way to afternoon hazy sunshine. The whole day turned out to be a roaster. Scott skincancer.net moderator
