I had a punch biopsy done, came back as benign sebaceous hyperplasia and dermatologist couldn't figure out what the issue was. I had a bad feeling and went for a second opinion. The second doctor knew right away it wasn't benign, and was concerned the punch biopsy was done on the edge of the lesion, hence missing it and offered me an excisional biopsy. Lo and behold, that came back as a BCC. Had Mohs shortly after and needed a cartilage graft in my nostril after they got everything out. Moral of the story: ALWAYS get a second opinion if something doesn't seem right.
