Do you still take beach vacations or go on cruises? Has your vacationing changed since your diagnosis

How has skin cancer changed the way you get away?

  1. I don't think we should deny ourselves travel. Life has changed since the production, and how much! Travelling distracts us and keeps us away from depressing thoughts. The fountain of emotions and experiences will fill us with vitality again. for example, i am planning a trip to italy in the near future. What should I prepare for a safe trip: a proper diet and avoid dangerous food and sun-sensitivity medication + a set of creams, especially a good-quality sunscreen + a set of hard hats for every occasion. But what clothes to wear, going on a cruise, here you need to think seriously. After all, water is like a lens, reflecting and refracting UV light, increasing and intensifying its dose. Because if you pay attention to some of us, large tumor of the skin develop even on the back, which means that the sun's UV penetrates through clothes. Clothes should preferably be white, but what density is an open question for me and not just for me...

    1. I agree. It's only been within the last five years or so that I have decided to visit the beach yearly. I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2007, and I began to avoid sunny locations as much as possible when it came to vacations. There are many decisions to be made when it comes to being sun-safe, but it's certainly possible!

    2. What sort of precautions do you take on your beach excursions? Do you go to the Gulf? Scott skincancer.net moderator

  2. Since my skin cancer diagnoses, lots in my life has changed, and that includes vacation spots. I used to love cruises and resorts in Mexico. That no longer sounds safe to me, and I do not go. My skin protection is my priority these days, and there are so many other options that are available to me.

    1. So, where do you like to vacation instead? What is fun for you? Scott skincancer.net moderator

    2. My sun restrictions are new as of February 2022. Lately I have done trips in Texas since I’m from the east coast. It’s all new to me. Most recently, I went to see a castle that Chip and Joanna Gaines flipped. It was featured on their show. I stayed at a bed and breakfast while I was in Waco.

  3. I like their show! I bet that was fun. Have you been to Austin?

    1. I have not, but I hear it’s a great city.

    2. Yes, I think you might like it. Scott skincancer.net moderator
