Efudex prior to basal cell removal?

Hello, My name is Mike, I live in Mission Viejo, CA. I have been recently diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma twice. The first one on my back and the other on my forehead. The one on the back was already removed, the one on my forehead has not been treated yet due to delays because of the current COVID situation. This one on my forehead is very small, but I want to have it treated soon. My doctor had suggested a treatment with Efudex prior to diagnosing the second cancer, but one we found the other he told me to wait. Since I am working from home for at least 2 months I figure this would be a good time to go through the Efudex treatment. I have a call to my doctor but he has not responded yet.

My question is, would you know if going through the Efudex treatment would create a problem with the cancer I already have? If I went that route I guess I would avoid this area, but from what I read Efudex is a powerful drug. I fully understand you cannot provide medical advice, I will greatly appreciate it if you could share your own experience if you have been in the same situation. I am new to skin cancer, I would be most appreciative of any feedback. Regards, Mike.

  1. ...Just checking in with you to see how you are doing. Were you able to use Efudex? If you did, I hope treatment went smoothly for you. You are right--it is definitely a powerful drug and can have many side effects.

I hope you have been able to have your BCC treated and healing has gone well.

Sending you lots of positive healing vibes,
