Efudex in small areas

Hi all, I use Efudex in small lesions as I find them. If it’s just a spot in my back, how do I keep it from rubbing off on my clothes? I’m afraid if I just apply the medicine and put my clothes on, the cream will rub off and won’t work. My husband told me to cover with a bandaid for a little bit and then remove the bandaid. But how long is a little bit? Thank you all!

  1. That’s a great question, hopefully some one who has had to apply efudex in the same area will chime in soon for you. Take care.

    1. I started using it 3 weeks ago on my chest and I put it on a couple of hours before getting dressed so it doesn't ruin my clothes. I was told not yo cover the area with plasters etc.

      1. thank you. I cover it for a little bit bc it’s such a small little lesion and the clothes rub it off as soon as I put them on. I would have to be naked and not lean on anything for a quite some time.

    2. Anas I thought I had psoriasis all across my chest for the last 2 years but a few months ago it started bleeding so was referred to a dermatologist who gave me a tube of Efadix and a leaflet, and told to come back in 6 weeks if it hadn't cleared. No info, nothing. I'm just into 3 weeks and it is starting to get painful and the itching is driving me mad. Apparently it is going to get worse before it heals. Good luck with yours xx

      1. thank you! Actually, you will see great skin after it heals. But yes, it’s pretty bad for a while. Good luck to you as well!

    3. How many times do you apply it per day? I believe I read that it needs to be rubbed in and left to dry with no band - aid unless you talk to your Dr.

      1. Twice a day. Thing is that don’t always have time to let it dry. I feel it rubs off and then it’s gone. But maybe my skin absorbs it before I rubs off. I have used it before and covered it when clothes cover it, but other areas that don’t need to be covered, like my forehead, I just leave it to dry. I was just wondering if someone had a better idea as to how to deal a small lesion but that unfortunately gets covered by clothing and gets rubbed off easily.
