Fluorouracil/ Calcipotriene Compound

Just completed my prescribed five day treatment of above to my face.

Should mention that I am 74 years old.

Today is day 6 and my dermatologist told me that Aquaphor (otc) cream would accelerate the healing.

Face looks like I went 10 rounds with Mohammed Ali… face very, very red and puffiness under both eyes. Also both eyes are very narrow and squinty looking but that was also the case prior to treatment due to my age… just more pronounced now.

Surprisingly, discomfort is very mild and almost indiscernible.

Questions:
1. Is the worst of this over now? Treatment applications are done.

2. Will my appearance begin to improve now or will my face continue to look worse?

3. If “yes” to No. 2, how many more days before appearance starts showing improvement?

4. Approx how many more days from now until I’m close to normal looking?
Day 6 (treatments completed)

  1. I wanted to check in and see how your healing and recovery has been going? Hopefully things are getting back to normal for you. -Julie (team member)

    1. Hi Julie I am using this compound as well and was told to use it for 2 weeks the first time. That was about a month ago and there were still some "rough" spots so I was told to do it again for 4 to 8 days. The entire area I had just treated has turned bright red AGAIN. Does that mean I didn't use it long enough the first time? When using the compound or Effudex (which I've used in the past as well) it would seem the second go around should be less painful after such a short time span. I thought I had reached the erosion stage both times but how do you really tell if this happens just a month later?

    2. Hi that’s a great question! One I’m sure others here in the community would be curious about as well. I would encourage you to get more clarification about that from your doctor! Since I am not a medical professional, or familiar with your particular case, I’m not able to offer that advice. I hope your doctor is able to provide some clarity for you! If you’d like, please let us know what they say. All my best, Julie (team member)
