4% Tolak (Fluorouracil) on chest

I used this on my forehead some months ago and had virtually no side effects, so extremely lucky.

I am now on day 12 of applying it to my chest (the v-neck area), and it’s come up so much and SO ITCHY I’m wondering if it’s an allergic reaction, or is this just thinner skin reacting to the ointment ? Also, I read about erosion; if it’s not allergic, am I at this stage yet? I’d be very grateful for some guidance. Thank you all for all the advice I’ve read xMy itchy chest

  1. That looks painful, . Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing whether this is normal or an allergic reaction. Can you send an image to your dermatologist, if you haven't already? Some people do have different reactions on different parts of the body, so it's possible this is normal for your chest, but it's best to check anyway since we're not medical experts. Please keep us posted. Thinking of you, Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thank you, Lori. Unfortunately, being in the UK I don’t have a dermatologist, and it’s virtually impossible to get an appointment with my GP, so I’m pretty much on my own trying to decide on the way forward. I’ll probably persevere for the remainder of the time and try not to tear my skin off 😫

      1. Hi . How much longer do you have left in your treatment? If it spreads beyong the application area or if you feel any new symptoms coming on, especially any that make you feel unsafe, please go to an ER. Best to be safe. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. Hi Lori. Thanks again for your response. I’m 2 weeks tomorrow, so another 2 weeks to go. Most of them have darkened a bit in colour, and are now developing little scabs on them, so I’m assuming it is a medication reaction. When it gets really itchy I’m trying to sit with a wrapped ice pack over it for a while; it helps a little. x
