Infection at biopsy site

Hi , I was sitting here tonight and felt something trickle down the side of my face.
I felt it and looked at my fingers but couldn’t see anything even though my fingers felt wet.
I went and tried to look in mirror at the site where I had a punch biopsy and touched it again. (Even though it has a band aid on it). And yes my finger was wet again and I smelt it , oh my it stinks. So obviously it’s infected, what do I clean it with? Just an antiseptic cream? Or a warm salt water wash, I’ve never had a site get infected before. Thanks

  1. oh no, I’m sorry to hear you think your biopsy site has become infected. For your safety, we are not able to offer medical advice as we are not medical professionals. Have you had a chance to reach out to your doctor? If you’re comfortable, please let us know how you’re doing. All my best, Julie (team member)

    1. Thanks so much for your reply, I have my appointment with skin cancer doc tomorrow to get stitches out of biopsy site and the results. So she can give it a check. But it looks better tonight.

      1. I’m happy to hear it’s looking better tonight! I hope your appointment tomorrow goes well and your doctor has good news for you💙. I’ll be thinking of you, Julie (team member)

    2. Thanks Julie, appointment went well, stitches come out no problem 😉. The nurse asked if I’d heard from the doctor, I said “ no “. She said, “the doctor will be back Friday and will ring you to talk about your procedures”. The spot on my forehead is BCC and the one near my ear is SCC.
My little infection was ok, she said still red but I did the right thing bathing it in the warm salty water.

      1. , that’s a good report! Thank you for keeping us updated. We are here for you!
        Kindly,
        Christina, SkinCancer.net Team
