Kidney Disease with Mohs Surgery

Has anyone had Mohs surgery with Chronic Kidney Disease? What were the results?

  1. ...Hi there! I spoke with a site lead today, and we are getting your question posted on our Facebook page and will hopefully get some responses to your question. I know you are concerned about your upcoming surgery. I am keeping you in my thoughts as you move forward. April, SkinCancer.net, Moderator

    1. As someone with CKD Stage 4, Moh's Surgery would be safe, as long as you are kept well hydrated. You didn't mention which stage of CKD you have. Moh's Surgery can be short or long, depending on how many times the surgeon needs to re-operate. I would ask your nephrologist if you have any other questions or concerns.

      1. Do ask your Nephrologist. I had several MOHS before my renal transplant. My dermatologist knew my CKD-late stage status, my nephrologist communicated with my dermatologist. I didn’t do anything special. It took 3 bouts of freezing and scooping to get the basil cell out. When finished the spot was clear. The next time, it took more time and again the cancerous cells were cleared. I had no negative effects to my renal status or overall health. Dermatologist remarked that I was dehydrated. It made sense as I was on dialysis at the time!
        Good Health to you ccrain!
