Mohs Again

My first two skin cancers were discovered at the same time 4+ years of age. One was a squamous cell in situ on the bridge of the nose that had clear margins at the time of the initial biopsy but was also treated with 12 weeks of Efudex. The other cancer in the dimple of my right nostril was noted after the biopsy to be an invasive form of basal cell. I underwent a four “pass” Mohs surgery until clear margins were obtained and then went through an hour-long plastic surgeon repair. It was quite a lengthy ordeal. I healed well with minimal scarring.
I will be undergoing a 2nd Mohs surgery in 5 days for a basal cell (not identified as invasive on the initial biopsy) in the dimple of my left nostril. Here’s hoping it is a much shorter surgery than the previous 6-hour ordeal!
