MOHS - One pass and done

Unfortunately I have had a mix of ~ 40 squamous and basal cell skin cancers. I am concerned with my recent MOHS surgeries as it has become evident that the doctors are are all in a hurry to remove the cancer in the first pass which I feel contributes to a questionable outcome. I am still suffering from lingering effects of scaring, bumps, oozing, itching and other anomalies after 4 years in some sites. Is this the new “normal” ?

  1. Oh my - I'm so sorry to hear that you've had 40 different instances of skin cancer. We see recurrence is common among our community members, and can often be the hardest part about having skin cancer. There's the fear of whether or not it will come back always lingering. I'm also sorry to hear about your experience with Mohs. Have your surgeries all been done by the same surgeon/doctor? What are your thoughts on getting a second opinion? Please know that our community is always here to support you in your journey! All the best, Alexa (SkinCancer.net moderator)
