Mountain out of a mole hill

Hi, just wondering: very recently a freckle on my forearm changed into a dark purple mole. My son has melanoma, originally on his forearm. I called to make an appointment with a dermatologist and the earliest appointment is August. Is this fine? Probably I’m being paranoid because of my son’s experience and worrying about nothing? Do you think that if the dr’s office thought it was serious, they would have mad an earlier appointment? Sorry to bother people with real problems over this.

  1. Thank you for your post. I can only speak from my experience. I always try to see a dermatologist as soon as I notice something. I don't see it as worrying but rather doing my due diligence. I always mention that I previously had melanoma when trying to get an appointment. Personally, I would mention that you have had melanoma in your family. This is no bother and a great question. Let us know how things go. Scott skincancer.net moderator
