My Skin Cancer

My first skin cancer started in 2016 when a spot on my left ear cavum concha would not stop bleeding. My doctor referred me to a dermatologist who then told me I have basal cell carcinoma which will have to be removed. This was my first Mohs surgery, and it was not enjoyable.
I now have to go every 6 months for checkups and I've had 3 more Mohs surgeries since 2022. My doctor said it is all because of my lifestyle when growing up and where I lived. When growing up in the 50s, I never had sunscreen and now I live with the after-effects of too many sunburns.
I just wish I could turn back the clock and had sunscreen to use then!
I now use sunscreen every time going outdoors. I don't want to add more new cancer to my body, but my doctor said I will have more!
It has changed my life very dramatically!!

  1. Thank you for sharing your experience with our community. Many of us would love to go back in time and do things differently. As for me, I just didn't know any differently and there were not many sun care products available. Please keep us updated on how you are doing. Scott skincancer.net moderator
