New dermatologist, same anxiety, different treatment

I recently moved from the Dallas, TX area to Myrtle Beach, SC to help take care of my mom who has health issues. Being a skin cancer survivor, I knew I had to start the process all over with a new dermatologist. I’ve been faithful with my skin checks. Does the anxiety ever go away? I had five AKs frozen and one biopsy on my chest (which has already had a BCC and a SCC before). She suggested a treatment called Broadband Light for diffuse AKs. I previously had TCH peels on arms and chest. Anyone have experience with BBL?

  1. Hi - thank you for sharing! I hope everything went well with your move and that you are settling in nicely to your new space. While you wait for other community members to chime in with their thoughts on BBL treatment, I wanted to share some articles that might be helpful to read about finding new dermatologists, if you haven't read them already: https://skincancer.net/life-with-skin-cancer/tips-finding-new-dermatologist & https://skincancer.net/life-with-skin-cancer/new-dermatologist. I'm sure many of our community members can relate to the anxiety that comes with finding a new doctor or specialist. I also wanted to share a link on AK treatment: https://skincancer.net/treatment/actinic-keratosis-treatment. Hope this helps! Please keep us posted on how you're doing. -Alexa (SkinCancer.net moderator)
