What advice would you give to friends and family who want to support someone with skin cancer? For example, company at appointments, help with treatment side effects, skin checks, a listening ear, etc.

Do all the things mentioned above: help manage side effects, be there to listen and for support, make sure someone accompanies you to every appointment - and allow them to ask questions, too - but most of all, they simply need to be patient (pun intended). A cancer diagnosis - at any stage - is stressful on the individual and on loved ones/friends. The best thing friends and family can do is ask, "What do you need?" and "How can I help?"
