I'm currently almost 21 years out with a kidney transplant. Thinking that was the worst I would ever have to go through and my fight was over. Boy was I wrong. Dealing with being sick in my early 30s when I was stronger and young but now in my 50s is very challenging. Harder than I could ever imagine. As of now, I've had 5 nose surgeries, 1 on my chest and 1 on my wrist. My nose will never look the same. Most of the cancer is coming from the transplant meds. I go every 3 months for screenings with countless biopsies under my belt. I'm still very fortunate my kidney is still doing very well. So each day I count my blessings.
