What can friends and loved ones do to support you?

What advice would you give to friends and family who want to support someone with skin cancer? For example, company at appointments, help with treatment side effects, skin checks, a listening ear, etc.

  1. Do all the things mentioned above: help manage side effects, be there to listen and for support, make sure someone accompanies you to every appointment - and allow them to ask questions, too - but most of all, they simply need to be patient (pun intended). A cancer diagnosis - at any stage - is stressful on the individual and on loved ones/friends. The best thing friends and family can do is ask, "What do you need?" and "How can I help?"
