What do you wish you'd known about treatment?

A lot of folks have mentioned that they were completely unprepared for what treatment would really be like. The size of the scar, the pain, and the recovery time can be shocking. Is there anything you would tell others about what to expect? Share your skin cancer treatment advice, from Mohs to immunotherapy, in the comments!

  1. My Stage IIB diagnosis came fast and furious. We literally had no time for a second opinion, plus we were overwhelmed with all the additional procedures: PET scan, sentinel node biopsy, and removal of additional margins. I would slow down, attempt to get a second opinion or additional input, and ask the tough questions, first. Get some type of comfort level before any major procedures.

    1. When I read the words, "get some type of comfort..." I thought you were going to say, "Get some type of comfort food" instead of "comfort level," and the comfort food sounded pretty good to me as a way of surviving stressful times!

    2. Ronni - I've definitely had my share of comfort food over the years.
