How I stopped being afraid of skin cancer

Six months ago I wrote here that a dermatologist advised me to use NOTA mole tracker for a home examination of moles. This was supposed to help relieve anxiety due to the fear of missing skin cancer. Now I want to share a review - maybe it will help someone.

NOTA scans using bioimpedance (approved by the FDA) and compares the resistance of skin cells and mole cells under the action of a weak electrical pulse. If everything is in order, then the application outputs green, if not, red. Does red immediately mean skin cancer? No. The device shows any changes or processes, for example, inflammation. Therefore, in order to use it effectively, I certainly refer to the Ugly Duckling rule and ABCDE.

What can I say for six months of use - I really felt calmer. There are photos of my nevi in the application and I can compare them for changes. Moreover, I removed 3 moles, which showed red several times. The doctor explained that these moles were constantly injured on clothes and could eventually develop into a serious problem.

So I'm happy that I have a simple and reliable way to conduct self-examination at hand, if necessary, and not to guess - is everything all right with this dot?

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this with the community! It is amazing to see how far we have come with skin cancer detection. I am so glad you have been able to see a reduction in anxiety!
