Mohs on back of hand

I have had 7 Mohs surgeries in the past. I getting ready to have another Mohs on the back of my right hand for a squamous cell. Just wanted to hear if anyone else has had this and how painful it might be. I tolerate pain very well, but I am pretty thin, so all I see are skin, veins, and bone. Anyone experience this?

  1. Hi . While you wait for others in the community to share their experience, I found a previous discussion on our site that I thought you might find useful https://skincancer.net/forums/mohs-surgery-aftercare. Sending you well wishes for your surgery and hoping the recovery is smooth and as painless as possible! Please let us know how you're doing. All my best, Julie (team member)

    1. Thanks Julie! I had it yesterday & all went well. Due to the location, I have to wear a brace over the bandage to prevent me from using the muscle, which could break the stitches. Should be good in a couple of weeks when the stitches are removed. Thank you for caring.

        1. I'm so glad to hear everything went well! Best of luck with the brace and recovery 😀 -Julie (team member)

      1. Hi @cindy33947, Glad it went well and sorry I didn't see this before. I am also very thin with very little "give" on the skin on the back of my hand AND also had a squamous cell removed from the back of my right hand AND was worried about it! I feel that the specialists are so skilled at giving the anesthesia in tiny little pin pricks that it doesn't hurt as much as you would think it would! – wishing you continued healing, Ronni, (skincancer.net team member).
