I have been going to see a dermatologist every six months since 2005 when on my exit from USAF I had skin cancer on my nose that required Mohs surgery. Ouch. So last year I did two rounds with cancer cream on my face. Seemed to work well. Daily grind with staying out of the sun. Using sunblock. Being safe. Guess you never recover from this but manage it.
