Does anyone have tips or tricks for body mapping?

What's the best way to keep a body map and stay on top of it?

  1. You can download a fairly simple printable map by following this link: https://www.aad.org/public/spot-skin-cancer/learn-about-skin-cancer/detect/body-mole-map

The download includes a place to enter comments about your moles/spots as they pertain to the ABCDEs of melanoma.

Deciding on a handy system of keeping notes is also a good idea. You can keep notes in your phone or begin a log in a Word file or Google docs for easy access and updates.

    1. I’m a huge fan of TBDP (total body digital photography). The doctor who I see at the Melanoma Clinic at UNC recommended this service to me due to a history of melanoma, and having so many moles.

Also, in between appts I mark any suspicious moles on a printable body map and bring it with me for easy reference with the doctor. For any additional questions or concerns, I keep a running list in my “Notes” app.

      1. I am not as technically savvy, so I get family members to assist me. I keep notes with their help. This reaffirms their need to be conscious of their time in the sun as they see what I go through. I guess in this way I am helping them understand why diligence is important for them as well.
