what led to your cancer diagnosis.

I was aware that a ‘spot’ above my top lip was not healing properly, it kept growing new skin, which dried up and came off, sometimes bleeding, then started the process all over again. I wasn’t really concerned as I don’t always heal very quickly. I then developed a small black area at the top of the spot, so contacted the dermatologist for at my local doctors’ surgery, for an appointment. A four week wait. I have been diagnosed with BCC, plus further pre-cancer damage on my nose. I have had an appointment at a hospital, who 99% confirmed the diagnosis. I have to have a biopsy to 100% confirm the diagnosis, as I will have to have a lip repair, and they need to know the margin to take around the cancer. That’s as far as I have got. Am I surprised? No! Five out sixteen of my short mat bowls group have had skin cancers (successfully) removed. I am quite apprehensive, but want it done ASAP. I am currently using Efudix cream on the pre-cancerous skin damage on my nose. 🙁
