What positive things have come from your skin cancer journey?

There are so many negatives associated with having skin cancer. They seem too many to count and who wants to think about them anyway? But, what about the other side of the coin? Are there positive things that have come from your journey?

  1. I'm brand new to this skin cancer journey (just completed my biopies and first 3 MOHS two days ago). There are actually surprisingly several positives so far: my dermatologist, his assistant, my surgeon and his two assistants are some of the finest folks I've ever met - genuinely great people with whom I'm honored to spend time and I trust them completely
This experience is giving me an opportunity to re-evaluate many aspects of my life and offered me the time to re-prioritize, focus on what's important and live with renewed purpose and passion.
Of course I'm tired and really sore right now but I'm grateful to have found this amazing community and looking forward to contributing positively.

  2. My skin cancer journey has made me aware of all that is going in my favor. My skin cancer was not good, but it could have been far worse. My recent surgery hurt at the time and left a big scar, but it too could have been far worse. I could have walked through my recent skin issue alone, but I had so many friends and family to support me. My church was there too. I am so grateful for what has gone in my favor-and it has been a lot.

    1. It is great to count our blessings. Thank you for sharing yours. Scott skincancer.net moderator
