Worried about this on the side of my head

I’m new to the forum, 2 years ago I got a short hair cut and the side of my head was slight itchy and discoloured a little bit went to see my doctor and they didn’t know what it was and gave me some steroid cream.
It’s been getting more itchy and when either I’m sick with headache or cold and Covid which I’ve just got over, it gets more painful and itchy and if I get less sleep, I’ve got 4 young kids so it’s happen quite often.
So today I got a short hair cut again and it’s radically changed is colour.
I’ve got a doctors appointment tomorrow to look at it. I’m hoping it’s an I growing hair or something not too serious, but I’m very worried about it.
I’ve attached a picture of what it looked like in October 2022 and a picture taken today.
Anybody got any ideas?

how did your appointment go? I hope your doctor was able to answer your questions. Thinking of you, Julie (team member) Thankfully you are having it looked at. I would be worried too. But by now you should have been looked at, and hopefully they at least did a biopsy.
so I had my appoint with a nurse practitioner and she said it was nothing to worry about had a good look at it and said no treatment was necessary and believed it wasn’t anything worth treating possible skin rash but no sign of infection, just something we get as we get older didn’t exactly explain what it was but reassured me it’s nothing.
I’m glad to hear that she did not think it was something you needed to worry about. Are you comfortable with her diagnosis? If not, as another member mentioned, it’s ok to ask for a second opinion! Best wishes, Julie (team member)
Was this NP a Primary Care Provider, or a dermatology NP? I think I would get a second opinion or ask ask if they could biopsy it just for peace of mind.
