Invasive squamous cell carcinoma

Had a scabby, itchy spot on the skin of my jaw are that wasn’t healing. Diagnosed with invasive squamous cell carcinoma on the skin of my jawbone. Biopsy sample was 1.4 mm thick and had cancer at the depth margin. Surgeon wants to do a MOHS procedure. He is fellowship trained in the procedure. How deep can the cancer go without becoming metastatic?

  1. Hi ,
I hate to hear about your diagnosis. According to this article (https://skincancer.net/types-signs/squamous-cell-carcinoma), it says that "SCC is more likely than BCC to invade deeper layers of skin and spread to other parts of the body." It also says that the MOHS procedure has the highest success rates. I hope some of this information is helpful for you. Please keep us updated with how you're doing if you'd like. We are here for you.
    Thinking of you,
