While carrot seed oil has some natural SPF properties (around SPF 30-40 in studies), it’s not a reliable standalone sunscreen, especially during melanoma treatment where maximum protection is crucial. Zinc oxide, however, is a fantastic physical blocker (especially at 20% or higher) that reflects UV rays without chemicals. Combining the two could offer some protection, but for your safety, I’d recommend pairing a broad-spectrum zinc oxide sunscreen (SPF 30-50+) with other measures like UPF clothing, hats, and shade. Always patch-test carrot oil first, as it can irritate sensitive skin.
