Anal SCC awareness

I am a SCC anal cancer survivor and wanted to highlight this condition in relation to skin cancer as it is not widely known or understood as an area where skin cancer develops.
Two yrs ago I did a routine bowel screening test and was told I had a SCC anal cancer, my life as I knew it changed forever, I didn’t understand how I could be in this situation, they explained that it was related to HPV virus.
Being ignorant to what this was I read everything about anal cancer, HPV and people like Farrah Fawcett etc; there wasn’t that much about anal cancer to be honest until I found the anal cancer foundation this organisation gave me all the necessary information and support from people who went through anal skin cancer. My story is long and I don’t want to go into the treatment and recovery process on here however just want to say that I am happy to be contacted if anyone wants help or support with this sort of cancer. I am two yrs post treatment, have since had a liver resection for metastasis from this cancer and I am being monitored six monthly with MRIs and CT scans. Hope this raises some awareness of the different types of skin cancer.
