Efudex erosion stage

Hi. Just looking for more advice on reaching erosion. After 2 weeks skin is raw, sensitive to touch and washing. Extensive redness with browins scabs over areas, other areas more intensive red. Still bumpy skin but much smoother over ak area. Not what I would call cracking open but numerous beads of clear fluid seep through the cream when applied, like a glistening all over the raw areas. Is this erosion? No chance of dermatologist confirmation as nhs just don't work like that in macclesfield. Advice appreciated.

  1. Hi . That's a tough question since we're not medical experts and each person presents a bit differently, but here is an article that might help: https://skincancer.net/life-with-skin-cancer/my-journey-with-efudex-in-photos. Does your skin look like any of these photos? - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Oh I wish I’d known about this community 3 weeks ago! I’m post 2 days cream which I used for 3 weeks twice a day and 100% correct no one warns you about what to expect! Had a few pretty rough days during treatment but nothing compared to today!! Day 2 without cream and I’m sore! Sore enough to take pain relief & an antihistamine!!

      1. no this is my first time! Started with the tiniest spot on my nose last November fast forward nearly a year had 2 more lesions removed & just waiting to see what the cream uncovers now! No one prepared me for the after effects of the cream the pain is horrendous but reading through this site I do believe it gets better xx

      2. It will get better, but that's tough to remember when it hurts this badly. I hope this is the one and only type you'll need efudex treatment and that you never have signs of cancer again. We're here for you whenever you need us. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. Ooomph. I too wish I would have seen this before starting 8 days ago. I have travel work assignments and family visitors coming and I was not prepared for the severity. I would have planned accordingly, There's no going back. My face is on fire and I can barely open my mouth. Tried Aquaphor today, a few hours after my morning application. Not sure it provided much relief.

      1. My heart aches for you, . It must have been quite a shock for you to discover just how painful and physically obvious the treatment can be. Are you able to get out of any of those travel work assignments? I hope your family is supportive and compassionate. Welcome to the community. Sending lots of gentle hugs your way. - Lori (Team Member)

      2. I never used anything while using the cream didn’t want to jeopardise the results but I found cool cloths helped me a lot

    3. I'll try the cool cloths. Maybe after I let it sit for awhile. Like you, I don't want to jeopardize the effects because I'm in it too deep now. I feel like I'm a little nauseated also. First doctor follow up is 6 more applications. I'm hoping she'll say I'm finished. Working from home this week. Staying home may not be an option next week and I'm just completely hoping it won't be so bad. I'm a alittle delusional! day 10

      1. Hi . Have you sent your doctor a photo? The time frame for treatment can be different for everyone. Your doctor might want you to stop sooner than planned given the amount of erosion you have experienced already. It might be worth checking in just to be safe. - Lori (Team Member)
