Frustrated
So I had my skin check on Friday and the dermatologist looked very closely at a small spot. He said he couldn’t tell what it was, just that it was inflamed. I have OCD so this sent me into a spiral. I know that life is filled with uncertainty and that the doctor didn’t feel the need to biopsy this but for peace of mind I almost wish he had. To make matters worse I also suffer from dermatilimania and have picked at the spot, which of course just makes it look worse.
I’m sorry you’re in this frustrating situation. Have you considered getting a second opinion? They can hopefully either offer reassurance or take a biopsy. I hope you’re able to get the peace of mind and answers you need. Thinking of you, Julie (team member) I did reach out to my dermatologist and am waiting to hear back from him. Suffering as I do from dermatilimania it’s so hard not to pick at the spot. I know it makes it worse and slower to heal as well as making it more difficult to diagnose changes but I basically do it without thinking. Ugh I really hate this.

. Do you feel comfortable telling your doctor that you have OCD and that you really need the biopsy to relieve the stress? OCD is a serious health condition as well, so the impact on your mental health should be a consideration. Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
He knows. I’m waiting to hear back from him about what he thinks I should do.
