Radiation for basal cell carcinoma

Has anyone else had to have radiation for basal cell carcinoma? Just got done with that and was wondering what was normal and what was not normal.

  1. Hi . Welcome to the community! I hope your treatment was successful and that you are done with skin cancer for good. Here is an article about the timeline for radiation treatment that includes a discussion about after treatment: https://skincancer.net/life-with-skin-cancer/superficial-radiation-therapy-timeline. I haven't found anything else about post-radiatation care in our archives, so I'm interested in seeing what others have experienced. I hope they chime in.
Do you have specific concerns about somethning that doesn't seem normal?

  2. Just have no energy at all and the fatigue is terrible. Was just wondering how long it lasted

    1. I've known many people who have experience fatigue for quiet a while after radiation for other cancers. I hope yours is short-lived. Here is an article from the American Cancer Society about radiation side effects that might interest you: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/treatment-types/radiation/effects-on-different-parts-of-body.html. I wouldn't assume it's a side effect though. You might be low on vitamin D, B vitamins or iron. It'd be wise to ask your primary care doctor for blood tests, just to be sure. Keep us updated, if you don't mind. Sending lots of healing vibes your way. - Lori (Team Member)
