Drugs that list Skin Cancer as side effects

I've had a long history of Basal Cell and Squamous Cell Carcinomas. But, over the last few years (mostly last few months), the occurrences and increased. I'm currently be treated for 5 (3 Basal and 2 Squamous) cancers, with surgeries every 2 weeks. It seems to have increased since I started Remicade infusions a few years ago. Has anyone had a similar reaction to pharmaceuticals ?

  1. Hi . The FDA has issued a boxed warning regarding the cancer risk for Remicade (https://www.remicade.com/important-safety-information.html). If your rate of skin cancer has increased since you began treatment, you might want to consider a different biologic. Have you discussed the potential correlation with your doctor? - Lori (Team Member)

    1. I met with my doctor. Remicade works so wee, we are both hesitant to switch. So we’re going to wait until my next skin check in July. If they find something, then I’ll probably switch. I sure like being in remission with my Chron’s though.

    2. Hi . It's a difficult decision for sure. You always have to weight the pros against the cons, especially since you can't know for certain whether the skin cancer and the use of Remicade are related. If you do switch, I hope you find something equally effective. Keep us posted if you don't mind. Warmly, Lori (Team Member)
