Second opinion?

A few months ago I was seeing a dermatologist that was very young, and he seemed overwhelmed by my biopsy results. I picked up on his stress, and it caused me a lot of anxiety. I also lacked confidence in him when he showed that he was stressed. I decided perhaps a second opinion was in order. The second opinion was a totally different situation. She was calm and cool, and I settled down too.

Have you sought a second opinion? Was it helpful? When do you think seeking a second opinion is appropriate?

  1. I had a soar spot on the bottom of my foot right bellow my toes I complained to my Dr. And he just kind of smirked and said oh its just a corn I was not comfortable with his response so I went to another Dr and she thought it looked strange and sent me to a podiatrist who did surgery and biopsy come back it was cancer needed another surgery to get it all have had no problems since

    1. Good for you for being proactive!!

  2. I am glad you followed your gut on this one. I feel badly for both you and the first doctor. You needed reassurance and clear answers, and he was clearly in over his head. That makes me sad for him and the patients who come after you.
